Average and Unforgettable!

Hey guys! It's Lindsey, here with another weekly blog. This week was pretty okay. This week my period my period was working CCTV. Monday, we got our report cards! I'm honestly kind of proud of myself, but a little sad. I only had a 3.8, and was pretty close to a 4.0 so still okay I guess. Tuesday, we had that stroke assembly in 5th period so I got to miss my original class. It felt a little weird though, when the class I was supposed to be in came and I got to greet and them to their table lol! My favorite part of that day was during DIVA, I "exposed" one of my bestfriends Ohemaa when we shared our entry journal's lmbo!! I also spent much needed time with a handful of really close friends of mine and overall had a pretty good day. Wednesday, was pretty basic haha, I did stress out on homework, but that's nothing really new. Thursday, was my birthday. Friday, I received ALOT of work I needed to do for homework, so that kind of sucks. Throughout the week, I went through a lot of emotions, both good and bad.

Highights and Lowlights. There were many highlights and lowlights that happened this week. One highlight for me was, getting my report card. This was a highlight for me because, I'm pretty proud on how I did, I definitely LOVE the grading system in middle school way more than Elementary!! One lowlight for me was, procrastinating on some of my work in and out of class. This was a lowlight for me because, procrastinating never solves anything, like I've said before, It definitely left some sad consequences on my side too.

A lesson I learned this week was to always think before you do something. The reason why I choose this to be my lesson for the week was because, I thought it matched with what went on this week. If I had thought before I did something bad to myself, then I would have at least have more consideration on what I did. This lesson is quite different from the others. Now, I'm not saying I regret what I have done, but I would definitely think and take a longer time deciding on whether I should make the choice to do what I've done to myself again in the future.

Out of all the magic notes I've received this week, my favorite would probably be from Angel. I picked her note because it stood out. She told me funny inside jokes that probably only me and her would understand and told me some "helpful" tips lol! It definitely made me laugh and sort of ties back to my lesson. Thank you, I definitely won't be forgetting this note anytime soon.

Retreat:The Dougnut Activity!

Hey guys! It's Lindsey, here with an early blog reflecting on: The Doughnut Activity! The Doughnut activity! The Doughnut Activity was a simple process, where myself along with my period came together to make a quote. Starting off with each of us sharing our personal quotes from our bio cubes. Afterwards sharing came along, and we were instructed to come together and create a group quote using key words from each of our own quotes. The quote would then be used as a reminder to our period to let us know if we follow it, we will strive together successfully!

My quote that I choose to be on my bio cube and the Doughnut Paper Activity was:" Self Love is the source of all other loves". I honestly really LOVED my quote lol! What it means is that, before you can love anything else you need to learn how to love yourself. What it means to ME and what I think of my quote is that, in this competitive and stressful world loving yourself is most important because it can make things run more smoothly knowing that you have love inside your self, before you can show it towards anyone or anything else.

My period's quote was: "Together there are no limits to what you can love through difficult times you take for granted." The part that was from my quote that was put into our period's quote was the love part. This part went into my period's quote because, since we picked key word's from each of our personal quote, I thought "love" was my key word. My word(love), meaning what we should always be doing and showing. From that point, we all shared each of our key words and came up with our quote.

Like I have mentioned before, myself and my periods quote was: "Together there are no limits to what you can love through difficult times you take for granted." I honestly LOVE this quote as well, along with my personal quote. Myself and my period's quote means that when work as a team, together we don't have limits to what we love during hard times that some of us take for granted. In other words we must collaborate with one another to have no end to the love we can give and produce even when we come across difficult situations, we take for granted.

During this activity, I learned that when you work together in a group, you can come up with many good idea's. The reason I choose this to be my lesson for this activity was because it really matched with what went on. Coming together as a group and just having a safe atmosphere around you really helps get thing's done with manty different perspective's and thought's. I know this because once we collaborated together and shared our quotes, we got things done quicker. In the future, I will think about this lesson anytime I'm working.

Start of Something New(aka Quarter 2)!

Hey guys! It's Lindsey, here with another weekly blog! This week was pretty good. This week my period was working music mixer. Monday, we had no school. I spent that day hanging out with my friend Rosslyn, watching Netflix and playing fornite for the first time! It's honestly still kind of dumb, like why can't I go up a huge hill without building or what's the point of the storm?! SMH! Tuesday, we had a substitute in English, did an escape room in math and finished work from last quarter in social studies. I also ended up going boba and back to Pohakea. Wednesday, we reflected back from retreat, voted on posters in DIVA (backwards) and started a new lesson in science. Thursday, we watched a movie in English and it was really boring frl so I drew, finished up work in math and had that earthquake drill, which kind of sucked because my neck was in pain right after:( and we had a CFA in social studies. I was in the middle of drama between Rosslyn and her boyfriend, which felt really awkward! When I came home, I hung out with a friend that moved away, Kiana and met some of her friends, while taking A LOT of pictures lol! Friday, we got to see where all the sections are for ISA, took a CFA in DIVA(backwards) and had new seats in science(but me and my friend Kaylee just stayed in the same spots lmao!) and had a mini test. We started having math problems this week and had magic notes! I even went shopping this morning, STRESSING OUT on what to get Angel, Savonnah and Kaylee for their birthdays! I eventually found something's(thanks Ileana for the help lol) and hope you guys like what I bought! Also, I'm getting REALLY excited for what's going down on this weeks Thursday!

Highlights and Low lights. There were many highlights and low lights that happened this week. One highlight for me was, meeting new people and hanging out with a close friend. This was a highlight for me because, I enjoy talking and reuniting with people! One low light for me was, stressing out on the gifts! Honestly! This was a low light for me because, I overall think I can be a chill person, but this morning I was running around the mall not knowing what to buy and how to budget my money, with a dying phone!

A lesson I learned this past week was to keep clam and relax. The reason why I chose this to be my lesson for the week was because, I thought it matched with what went on this week. If I had stayed calm and relaxed in my trip this morning, I would've got things done faster and more efficient(this could definitely during school as well, when I could possibly have an assignment/project). In the future, I will make sure to ALWAYS keep calm and relax, so I don't run into this issue again.

Out of all the magic notes I received this week, my favorite would probably be from Mikka. I picked her note because it stood out. She told me very detailed compliments and positive things, that was nice to hear. It made me feel appreciated and a little more better about myself knowing that I have helpful people who are here with me the entire year. Thank you, I definitely won't be forgetting this note anytime soon.

RETREAT 2018-2019

Hey guys! It's Lindsey, here with another weekly blog, this time focusing on the time I spent at retreat! The 3 days I spent with the class, was 3 days I sure as heck won't forget! Wednesday(Day1) started off early with me stressing out! I had woken up at around 5 in the morning and was still really tired. I had some more things to pack and honestly didn't feel like starting my day. I ended up leaving my house at I think 6:50. It also turned out that Ileana needed to carpool, so otw my dad  and I picked her up. We met up with jasmine at the front of Ilima and walked to boy's and girl's club. It was really awkward walking with all our stuff in front of everyone at boy's and girls because they kept looking at the 3 of us like we were homeless or something. We waited for the bus to come and when it did, it was time to say goodbye to our technology and load/board the bus. It felt REALLY long getting there, but the views that we got to see around the island was kind of worth it. Once we got there, we set up the meeting table and starting unpacking. We then had our first session, where we discussed strengths and weaknesses about our group and how we can fix them/ stay that way. We settled in once more and had lunch. Session 2 was a quarter one review. We talked about activities and events we did over the summer up until now, and sorta highlights and lowlights for each of them. We had a break, which I think almost all my breaks were spent talking outside with Jasmine and Amber by the beach. Session 3 was breakout. My period had Kaya 1st, to make a little booklet based on Hawaiian words and what they meant to us. We also got to practice for the talent show afterwards. Session 4 was quarter 2 planning. Each period got to pick activities to plan for, and I think I can remember my period choose Winter Door Decorations and Elementary School Dance Competition. I think after that we had Dinner(provided by Mr. Shim and accompanied by Matthew and Kalepo ). We then had chopped! My period went last and it turned out we ended up winning, with our signature Nutella banana lumpia coated with sugar! That was it for Day One at the retreat house. Thursday(Day 2) started off with breakfast with one another. We than had Session 5, which was quarter 3 planning. I think my period choose Mini activities and Penny/can goods. We then had a break. Afterwards was stewardship, where we basically just cleaned. Each period got assigned a section of the house(outside) to clean, my period handled to backyard and a small part of the front yard. We than had lunch and free time. Afterwards was session 6, which was breakout(continued). My period had Ari, where we made goals( short, mid and long) for the entire year and put them in a box. I think afterwards we had dinner. Than had session 7, which was the last breakout. My period had Shayna, where we wrote our quotes from our bio cubes into poster paper and came up with a group quote. Afterwards was the talent show! My period went second and I think we overall did pretty okay, even though I messed up for some parts. Than it was lights out. Friday(Day 3) started off with breakfast again. We than started packing up because it was the last day(sadly) and had a break afterwards. Than it was session 8, where we had quarter 4 planning. This time we were split into groups and my group discussed about graduation. We transitioned into a break, than eventually lunch. Immediately after lunch, we each changed into our yellows because it was picture time! We went back inside to than have interviews! My period started us off and I wasn't as nervous as I thought I was going to be. After that we started our final cleaning and moved stuff to the garage. We waited for about 2 hours till the bus came and dropped us back home.

Highlights and Lowlights. There were many highlights and lowlights that happened these past few 3 days. One highlight for me was, getting to know my period a little more better. This was a highlight for me because it improves my relationship with my period better considering I spent 3 days with them! One lowlight for me was forgetting some things at home. This was a lowlights for me because I honestly really needed those items and I didn't have them to help me with some problems I faced.

A lesson I learned these past 3 days was to ALWAYS remember to double check your things/work/items. The reason why I chose this to be my lesson for was because, I really thought it matched with what went on these past 3 days. If I had remembered to check my things before I left my house, I would've been more prepared and some what " a little more satisfied" with my first year experience at the retreat house. In the future, I will make sure to ALWAYS double check my things/work/items, so I don't run into this issue again.

My favorite Magic Note would probably be from Ari. I picked her note to be my favorite because it stood out. She was upfront and straight up gave me really good and inspiring advice about the class, that I definitely will use. It made me feel pretty reassured and a little more better about myself knowing that I have helpful people who are with me the entire year. I definitely won't be forgetting this note anytime soon.

That's a Wrap for 1st Quarter!

Hey guys! It's Lindsey again, here with another weekly blog! This week went by REALLY slow. This week my period was working the ID stand. Monday, was the first day we started team intramurals. The crowds were CRAZY. Mainly the 8th graders. A lot kept screaming in my ear and kept stepping outside the box, so that was kind of annoying, but it was still cool seeing the game.
We also started cleaning out A102 and arranged them back in A101, but in the end it ended up being put back.Tuesday, I starting getting ready for grade check the next day. I was stressing out a lot that day because I still had a C in social studies after a whole week and a D in science. It was an easy fix for science, but not as much for social studies. That night I also fell asleep REALLY late because I needed to finish a science project I didn't even started, finish a personal narrative and my math packet. Wednesday, I still had that C and I was definitely losing hope. I at least got my other things done and was passing all my other classes, so that was good? It was also the last day for intramurals of the quarter, which was kind of sad. Thursday, I was DETERMINED to get my grade back up, even though I was pretty sure I wasn't going retreat, I still wanted to end off the quarter with grades my dad would be proud of. It was basically working the entire day in each period. When it came to social studies, I was given a BLESSING. An extra credit assignment that would raise my grade. I think I was the ONLY person who turned it in the next day, even though it was due the day we got back from fall break lol. Friday, I ended up RE DOING the extra credit assignment she gave some of us. Apparently, I was supposed to read a "4th grade article" instead of a 7th grade. I still got it done by advisory and turned it in with alexis, because we both needed to talk to our teachers. At the end of the day, I ended up getting my grade raised to a B!We also switched our seats and now I'm sitting by savonnah! I was sooooo happy, that I could cross my name off that list! Throughout the week, each time I went to my 5th period(science) it was AWKWARD. That guy that I keep bumping into, seriously has a staring issue frl, it honestly kinda bugs me, but I want to honestly start getting along with people better.

Highlights and Lowlights. There were many highlights and lowlights that happened this week. One highlight for me was, improving my grade in social studies. This is a highlight for me because after a
week and a half I finally made it off both of the probation and tutoring list. One lowlight for me was, changing my grade at the very last minute. This is a lowlight for me because although I ended up with a good grade I still kept that C for a while, which meant I could've done more sooner to get my grade back up and I wouldn't have been stressing out on the final days of quarter one.

A lesson I learned this week was to, always find opportunities to do something better in school. The reason why I choose this to my lesson was because, I really thought it matched with what went on this week. Like I have mentioned before, I had opportunities to fix my grade in social studies
sooner so I would have had an acceptable grade. Instead, It was towards the last minute I had my grade changed and I definitely would have had A LOT less stress that week, than I should've had. In the future I will make sure to find opportunities to do something better in school.

2018-2019 1ST QUARTER BLOG,

Hey guys! It's Lindsey, here with my first quarterly blog. Wow! First quarter is almost up! It seems like it was just yesterday, I was walking to the first meeting as a 6th grader, ready for whatever this class has to offer. If one thing is for sure though, it's that summer in bridge /work days are a COMPLETELY different thing from actual school days! Middle school is also a whole new atmosphere than Elementary school. Like, on the first day of school up until now it's been transitioning classes instead of staying in one. Different classes, mean different teachers. I'd honestly say I got lucky with being in 7-3. Almost all of my teachers are just so nice and understanding, which is a great help. With that we had assignments that definitely pushed me over and some that was a total breeze. The best part about this quarter I'd say is getting to stay close with my best friends and reconnect with old ones. As for my time in leadership, I thought it would be much more difficult than what it actually is. The people here are really nice and welcoming, but I honestly wish I could've gotten closer to everyone in this class.  We had a lot of events happening and planning as well, since school started. We had worked intramurals, had reunion, presented bio cubes, sign waving and had picture taking. For assignments in this class, it hasn't been much of a struggle I needed to work on. I read 5 books in total to finish AR and I haven't missed a blog yet, which is pretty good. Towards the end of the quarter, I unfortunately ended up on probation and tutoring because of science and social studies. I raised up my grade for science up until an A, at the moment I still have a C in social studies, other than that I'm getting all A's, which is pretty cool. Even though my grades aren't exactly perfect and I'm still trying to get to know everyone, school has been going good. Way more hyped up, helpful and fun than elementary without a doubt. I'm getting really excited to see what 2nd quarter has in store for me and everyone else.

Highlights and Lowlights. There were many highlights and lowlights for this quarter. One of my best Highlights so far would be meeting new people and reconnecting with old ones. Like, In avid I made a new friend named Harryzen, and basically everyone is really nice. Also in science I started talking to my friend again (back when I was in Holomua) named Kaylee. One of my worst lowlights was getting on tutoring and probation. Once, this happened I knew I had to whatever I could to get off, so I was able to go retreat, but now I don't even think that's possible. Now, I'm pretty determined to get a B so at least I can make my Dad and great grandma proud.

A lesson I learned this quarter is to always try to get closer to your peers. The reason why I choose this to be my overall lesson, is because I thought it really matched with what went on these past 3 months. I absolutely regret not talking/interacting to everyone, especially talking to the 8th graders this quarter. I've also realized if I had talked to everyone in the class, it would be easier for me to ask for help and not having everything feel awkward. In the future, I will eventually learn to appreciate everyone in this class and be close to them.

GLO#1: Self Directed Learner: I demonstrated this GLO this quarter by, taking responsibility of all my assignments and gave personal reminders to get things done.
GLO#2: Community Contributor: I demonstrated this GLO this quarter by, assisting most of my peers when they were in need of help.
GLO#3: Complex Thinker: I demonstrated this GLO this quarter by, solving my own and helping out my peers when myself and others were in need of help with stuff like assignments and physical problems.
GLO#4 Quality Producer: I demonstrated this GLO this quarter by, feeling confident with almost all of my assignments whenever I had to turn them in.
GLO#5 Effective Communicator: I demonstrated this GLO this quarter by, not being afraid to ask my peers(certain) for help when I needed it.
GLO#6 Effective and ethical User of Technology: I demonstrated this GLO this quarter by, respectfully using technology at the appropriate time.
