Leadership Adventures 2k18

Coming into Leadership these past two months, has truly stunned me by opening myself to a new experience. A new experience that I hope will turn out to be one of my unforgettable memories in middle school. During the first days in bridge class, I was really nervous and awkward because I wasn't well aware of the people around me. Even though this was happening I still had a fun time getting to know everyone and part take in the activities. Activities such as Zumba, P.E., team building exercises, fun field trips and much more. The purpose of these enjoyable memories were to help all of us get to know each other a little more. As we closed in on summer bridge class, we escalated towards summer work days. There we started prepping A101 and A102 to be ready for the school year. It took time and collaboration to accomplish this task, but we got it done. We did struggle at some points in the process with mishaps and confusion, but we were able to work it out. We were also going through some tasks that needed to be learned throughout the school year such as the music mixer, T.V., intro's and ID cards. As we were coming to the end of summer work days, registration was coming up as well. There, me and my fellow 7th graders experienced our very first days working with other Ilima students. We were in positions where we had to work under pressure.

During my summer experience at Leadership, I have experienced highlights and lowlights, both personal and group based. Highlights I have achieved were getting to meet new people, especially the people I would be spending most of my time with in middle school. Also being able to complete all of our mandatory tasks needed to be finished for the new school year. Lowlights I'm not to proud of would have to be not being able to fully branch out of my shell. Although I was able to meet everyone and get to know them, I wasn't fully ready to start associating with them and instead stayed within a group I felt a little more comfortable with. Also at some points I wasn't being productive with time and needed some reminders. Highlights or Lowlights, each has helped me grow from the person I was from the start of the summer till where we are today.

A lesson I have learned from the summer was that working and communication with others will improve performance in any assignment. This lesson is important to me because I think that with hard work and communication it makes the task in hand run more smoothly. Especially, considering the facts that it is less likely to have arguments and increase the time it takes to finish. This lesson can apply to whenever I'm working on a group activity or whenever I'm asking for help.

Throughout everything I've been through in leadership so far, I would say it's an experience that I will never forget. It's an experience that has definitely been something I can grow and develop from. I feel much more responsible and trusted. It's safe to say that I'm
